Paris, October 27<\/strong> \u2014 The Paris edition of the Meet China<\/em> International Communication Program, part of the 7th EU\u2013China Film Festival, was held on October 25 (local time) at the Nouvelles d\u2019Europe Cultural Center in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was jointly organized by the Communication University of China<\/strong> and the Nouvelles d\u2019Europe Cultural Media Group<\/strong>. Attendees included Zhong Cheng<\/strong>, President of the Nouvelles d\u2019Europe Cultural Media Group and Editor-in-Chief of Nouvelles d\u2019Europe<\/em>, and Hu Fang<\/strong>, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication at the Communication University of China, both of whom delivered opening remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A curated selection of audiovisual works was screened during the Paris event, including China Momentum in Europe<\/em>, This Is CUHK-Shenzhen<\/em>, Lighting Up Ali: An Engineer\u2019s Diary<\/em>, Quanzhou: Let It Flow<\/em>, Encounters with China: Xixi Wetland<\/em>, and A Belgian Geologist in China<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his remarks, Zhong Cheng noted that as a media organization deeply engaged in EU\u2013China exchange, Nouvelles d\u2019Europe<\/em> has witnessed the growing depth of cooperation between China and Europe. He described the Meet China<\/em> program as an encounter shaped by cinema as a window and storytelling as a bridge. In recent years, he observed, Chinese audiovisual works have gained increasing attention in Europe by presenting a diverse, nuanced, and vibrant image of China through sincere perspectives. The core value of the film festival, he emphasized, lies in bringing people from different cultural backgrounds together to listen, reflect, and connect through shared viewing experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hu Fang stated that the EU\u2013China Film Festival is committed to discovering and supporting outstanding original audiovisual works from China and the European Union. As a bridge for cultural exchange, moving images enable audiences to gain deeper insight into China\u2019s social landscape and development. She added that the films screened at the Paris event reflected exchanges and cooperation between China and Europe across multiple fields over the past 50 years of diplomatic relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the screenings, a dialogue session was held under the theme \u201cSeeing Each Other Through Images.\u201d<\/em> Participants included French screenwriter Pradelle<\/strong> and O\u2019Brien<\/strong>, a journalist from France 24, among others. From professional perspectives, the discussion addressed narrative strategies in cross-cultural audiovisual communication, how Chinese stories resonate with international audiences, the construction of visual representations of contemporary China, and the diverse portrayal of urban identity.
